This is a volunteer position.
FRIENDS OF DESTINATION: ART PROGRAM LEADER (open until filled)
The FRIENDS of Destination: Art program provides a safe and welcoming space where adults on the autism spectrum can express themselves, build friendships, and support their emotional well-being. Art helps members, especially those who are non-verbal or have difficulty communicating, share their feelings and tell their stories. The program also gives experienced members the opportunity to instruct. The FRIENDS program strives to create inclusive workshops that support each participant’s needs and learning style by:
Providing a safe space for creativity and emotional well-being.
Using art to help members express themselves and communicate.
Building belonging, confidence, and friendship.
Offering leadership opportunities for experienced members who wish to teach.
The FRIENDS Program Leader will schedule 4-6 annual workshops for adults on the autism spectrum, secure instructors and volunteer hosts, coordinate class logistics, communicate with volunteer facilitators and families, manage to a budget, and provide feedback to the Board on the program successes and challenges. This is a volunteer position.
