Continuing her monthly series of gel plate printing workshops, Karen Doyle will teach different ways to incorporate gold leaf directly on the gel plate to add luminous and beautiful effects in your prints. Karen will demonstrate using gold and silver gilding sheets and loose-leaf flakes with and without stencils to create patterns and textures and add light, contrast and dimension to gel prints.
Gel plate printing is an experimental process, a combination of art and science, and Karen will talk about both. She will discuss what inspires her and share explanations of both successes and failures with gold leaf, and how these led to additional exploration.
